X in A Reau

10 in a Row. Ten in a Rau. It all sounds the same -- GOOD.

Mets are now EARNING their wins with some hard fought come from behind victories and not laying down when an opponent has crossed the plate more than they have.

Santana pitched so-so, but the lesson here is that everyone must contribute. AND, how about that Fernando Tatis. Is he on track to becoming "Comeback Player of the Year?" Every year there is a hidden Gem and he appears to be a leading candidate.

One note I want to share is that on ESPN radio today, Peter Gammons was asked which of the two New York baseball teams he thought could go to the playoffs - without hesitation, he said the Mets as they were "the hottest team in baseball."

That, I may add is excellent kudos, considering the Mets were at the 40 degree below mark (Centigrade AND Fahrenheit -- kiddies, look up this stat and reference, you will be amazed) -- ice cold.

We'll catch up. The weekend is coming and we are tied with the Phils for first place. Did I just write that? Yes. Can I believe it? Why, uh, YES!

Palpitations -- But The Mets Won!

Watching Mike Pelfrey just does odd things to me. You never know what the kid is going to do. He has a great delivery, but gets flustered so easily.

The image of the left was a stress test that reflects my reaction to each of his pitches.

Glad the Mets came out of the game well today. They were able to hold off potential base runners and kept the speedy Juan Pierre off the base stealing efforts.

Tomorrow night, Sunday, I am heading to the ESPN game. First time I get to see Santana pitch. I never have luck seeing the top Mets pitchers hurl. In the early 90s, I always wound up with a Wally Whitehurst or Sid Fernandez. As of late, it has either been Pelfrey, Perez or Figueroa.

Here's the box score for posterity (translation, so Pelfrey's mom can read it). Interesting note I forgot to mention a few days ago...Duaner Sanchez, who won the other day, had a rare opportunity to bat. It amazed me how much hustle he had as he ran to first base

Confessions of a Mets Addict

Hi. My name is Ultimetfan1969 and I have a problem. I love baseball. I love the Mets.

I have not missed a game (wish I could be there in person for all 162 and 9+ innings, but let me hit the lottery and then blog about that escapade!) this year and only missed 3 last year when I was out of the country for 10 days. (I was able to catch a Mets/Yankees contest or two while in Colombia on ESPN Deportes).

So, I catch every game on TV / Radio or in-person (when I am lucky). If games are during the day at work, I try to get a signal, though its tough, but compensate by watching the re-run. Well, yesterday, August 7 I was faced with a major conflict in life. I had Mets tickets and tickets to my favorite modern day singer, Chris Isaak. What did I do?

Before you stone me like an unfaithful muslim woman in the street, please note that I was at 2 games this year (with another coming this month) and at ZERO Isaak concerts since '03.

Isaak out did the Mets (who lost to the Braves). I didn't get a chance to see any replays or highlights.

Well, I promise not to miss any more games.

Footnote: I got to shake Chris Isaak's hand after the show.
